Life leaves us asking lots of questions. "Why am I here?" "What is all this for?" "Why doesn’t this make sense?" "What will happen to me when I die?" "What will happen to my loved ones when they die?" Human beings cannot answer these questions; we need someone bigger to give us the answers. God has given us those answers. The Bible teaches us that if we have a relationship with God, then we can have a good life [John 10:10], a hope for the future [Colossians 1:5], and know that we will go to Heaven when we die [John 3:16]. There’s only one problem…we can’t have a relationship with God because our sin has made a deep canyon between us and Him. That’s why Jesus came. He made a bridge for us to get to God, the only bridge to get to God [John 14:6]. Here’s how you cross:
A—Admit. You have to get quiet, sit down, and admit to God that you are sinful (you’ve done bad things). [Romans 3:23]
B—Believe. You have to tell God that you believe that Jesus died to take away your sins. [Romans 5:8] Jesus died as a sacrifice giving His life for your life.
C—Commit. Tell God that you are making a commitment to follow Jesus for the rest of your life. [Luke 9:23-25]
Put all of this in your own prayer of commitment like, “God, I know I’ve done bad things. My sins weigh me down. But I believe today that Jesus died to take my sins away forever. I need You in my life. I begin right now to follow Jesus for the rest of my life."
